Forensic Computing

The capacity to review digital based data and evidence is paramount to the success of many investigations. Vestinex can provide Forensic Computing support and electronic discovery services to support our investigations. One of the key requirements of the use of digital based evidence is to ensure that none of the data is altered in the acquisition and extraction process. Incorrectly acquiring digital evidence can result in the sensitive metadata attached to the file data being altered including dates and time of last written, altered and creation.

Vestinex is able to provide advice to our clients on the best practice management of digital evidence in line with HB-171 Guidelines for the Management of Computer Based Evidence including the correct methods of acquiring and securing data to provide the best opportunity for that evidence to be accepted within the courts.

We are able to take forensic images of standard computer systems and extract data from live systems where necessary to support our client’s investigations. We can assist our clients to review email and file data for electronic discovery operations at a small and medium level. Unfortunately at the present time we are not able undertake extensive electronic discovery engagements due to restrictions on server space and processing systems however we can provide advice and point our clients in the right direction to engage a provider of these services.
